Whether it’s a large or a small wedding, organising an event is never straightforward. One of the key aspects of this is sending out the wedding invitations. Who should you invite? To which part of the wedding should you invite them? What should you include and how should you convey it; how should you word the text of the wedding invitation?
The wedding invitation is very important, as it is the first official announcement of the big day and also contains a great deal of important information.
The invitation provides guests with information about the wedding. It is also, of course, an important aesthetic element, designed to convey the atmosphere of the wedding to the guests. That is why it is not easy to find the perfect design and the right wording.

What sort of information can be included in the text of a wedding invitation?
As we mentioned in the previous paragraph, a wedding invitation isn’t just for sharing the big news with your family, friends and acquaintances. Of course, that is its main purpose, but it is actually a much more complex matter than that.
A good wedding invitation combines function, aesthetics and practicality. It’s where you share the big news, give a glimpse of the wedding’s atmosphere and set out the wedding guidelines.
What rules are we talking about? What can you include in the text of a wedding invitation?
1. Basic information
Where and when will the wedding take place? You need to let your guests know well in advance which day to keep free; it’s also important to let them know where to go – whether you’re holding the wedding in the city or at a completely different venue.
2. The nature of the invitation and the wedding programme
You don’t invite every guest to the full wedding programme. The text of the wedding invitation may refer only to the civil or church ceremony, to both the ceremony and the reception, or to everything, including the after-party. It is also possible that some guests are not invited to the reception, but only to the ceremony and the after-party.
Of course, everyone would love to invite everyone else to the whole event, but there are often financial constraints. It makes a difference, for example, whether there are 100 or 300 people about her wedding menu needs to be taken care of. 5. Accommodation and other important information
Let’s say that you and your partner are both from Budapest, so most of your families and the majority of your friends live in the capital. However, for one reason or another, your wedding will be held in the countryside.
It is important that guests know in advance whether they need to arrange their own accommodation or whether you will organise it for them, and what the costs involved are.
You can include all other important information on the wedding invitation – in fact, it’s a good idea to do so.
Many people set up a website for their wedding, where everything that appeared on the invitation is available in even greater detail, supplemented with additional information. It is also worth including the website’s contact details on the invitation.
Now that we’ve mentioned creating a wedding website, it’s worth noting that it’s a really good idea. 🙂 A paper invitation is lovely, and most people treasure it like a precious egg, but there are always one or two guests who misplace it, sit on it, spill coffee on it – and the list goes on. With a website, such incidents simply cannot happen.
Tip: Don’t wait too long to send out your wedding invitations. If you want to make sure everyone who’s important to you is there, let your guests know well in advance when the big day is so they don’t make any other plans for that date. Put compiling the guest list, designing the invitations and sending them out relatively high up on your wedding to-do list.
