Wedding wishes – this is always a tricky subject, and it causes a lot of headaches for those planning a wedding. Everyone wants to offer their congratulations in a personal and heart-warming way, but of course we don’t want to go „over the top” in how we express ourselves either! Let’s take a look at a few ideas that can make our congratulations and best wishes easier to put across and more unique.
Wedding preparations aren’t just down to the couple. Guests attending the big day also have a role to play, especially if they’re very close to the couple. First and foremost, there’s the wedding gift! As for the wedding gift, unless the couple have made a specific request, it’s a good idea to give a small sum of money – it always comes in handy at times like this! We’ve also come across cases where the couple use a dedicated wedding website to inform the guests of their wishes; in such cases, you should choose a gift from the options listed there.
Now that we’ve sorted out the issue of wedding gifts, it’s time to turn to wedding wishes – in other words, the question of how we’re going to offer our congratulations! Wishes usually arrive in an envelope on a small card, featuring a short (or even lengthy) message of congratulations, a quote, or perhaps both!
Wedding Wishes – The Importance of Personal Connection
One of the most important factors! Nobody wants to come out with a clichéd congratulatory message, and let’s face it, the couple will be much happier to receive words that come from the heart! If we’re very close to the couple – or at least to one of them – it’s easier, but even for a more distant friend or relative, it’s not impossible to offer unique congratulations that bring a tear to the eye!
What makes a good wish personal?
It’s emphasising the bond between two people that really makes a wedding message feel personal! You can recall the beautiful, funny or even difficult moments of a friendship that you’ve shared with someone. A childhood story is always a brilliant idea too; it shows just how long we’ve known each other, how much we’ve been through together, and here we are, still by each other’s side!
As well as kind words and memories, we can spice up our congratulations with a touch of humour – the main thing is that they’re personal! If we manage to write something that gives the recipient food for thought and brings a tear to our own eyes, we’ve probably got it just right!

Perhaps we’re not that close to the couple, we don’t share any common memories, or we’re simply not in the right frame of mind to come up with the perfect message? It’s not the end of the world! That’s when quotes come in handy! Of course, they work perfectly alongside a deeply touching wedding message, but they’re also brilliant as an accompaniment to a simple „Wishing you every happiness!”
Wedding wishes: quotes are always a good choice!
A beautiful, well-chosen and fitting quote adds that little extra touch to any congratulatory message, making it truly special. There are actually no set rules for choosing quotes; the main thing is to try to pick one that suits the couple or that they’ll like! Quoting a favourite author, for example, is always a good idea; if you share a favourite book, film or performer with one of the couple, feel free to quote from that too!

How should we phrase our wedding wishes?
Once we’ve decided what to put on the card containing our best wishes – a personal message or a quote, or perhaps both – then the hard part is over. That said, there’s still work to be done: we need to work out the most aesthetically pleasing way for the couple to receive it.
If we were to make the greeting card ourselves – in other words, if we wanted to give a DIY keepsake – it would be useful to use some sort of design software! A huge selection of ready-made templates, stunning fonts, an editable front page, as well as the inside and back pages – that’s the best way to sum up the site in a nutshell. You can also upload images, so you can even add a photo you’ve taken yourself to the greeting card. It’s a quick and easy alternative if you’d like to create a personalised card but don’t have the time to spend weeks on it.
If we were to take it a step further and, rather than using software, actually make the card by hand, we can be sure that our congratulations will be a great success; the couple will certainly feel the love with which we put into making this little card.
